About the Opportunity

An established, independent retail business is seeking a dependable, hands-on Store Supervisor to help oversee daily operations and provide direction to employees.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in retail, hospitality, food service, or a similar customer-facing environment who enjoys staying actively involved, supporting a team, and ensuring day-to-day responsibilities are handled efficiently.

The successful candidate will be comfortable taking initiative, making sound day-to-day decisions, and balancing employee oversight, customer service, and general operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day direction and oversight to employees during assigned shifts, ensuring responsibilities are completed efficiently.
• Work alongside employees to support daily tasks, including receiving, organizing, stocking, and replenishing merchandise.
• Oversee incoming deliveries and verify that products and quantities received match the corresponding purchase orders and invoices.
• Identify discrepancies in deliveries or documentation and communicate them to the owner promptly.
• Monitor inventory and stocking needs, communicating shortages or replenishment needs as appropriate.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming environment for employees and customers.
• Assist customers, answer questions, and address concerns with patience and professionalism.
• Foster a respectful and welcoming environment for customers from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances.
• Handle routine customer and employee concerns calmly, using sound judgment to resolve issues or determine when owner involvement is needed.
• Help maintain appropriate cleanliness, product presentation, and adherence to store policies.
• Keep daily operations moving by identifying priorities, addressing issues, and stepping in wherever needed.
• Communicate operational concerns, delivery issues, and other important updates to the owner.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail, hospitality, food service, or another customer-facing environment.
• Experience providing direction, guidance, or supervision to employees.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to handle customer concerns, challenging interactions, and sensitive situations with patience, professionalism, and good judgment.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly when receiving deliveries, checking orders, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently with limited day-to-day oversight.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize responsibilities, and make practical decisions in an active work environment.
• Comfortable balancing employee oversight with hands-on responsibilities and customer interaction.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and assist with daily tasks as needed.

Schedule

• Full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week.
• Four 10-hour shifts, generally 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays are required workdays.
• Can expect approximately one weekend shift per month.
• Remaining workdays are flexible and will be coordinated with the owner.

Work Environment

This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, with regular responsibilities in an open-air work environment. The business operates in a variety of weather conditions, including rain and typical winter weather. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors during hot and humid summer weather, as well as during colder weather and changing conditions. Employees are not expected to report when road or weather conditions make travel unsafe.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Regular lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to assist with receiving, moving, organizing, and stocking deliveries and merchandise.
• Comfort performing hands-on physical tasks alongside other employees.
• Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.
