Safety Manager — Agricultural Operations

Confidential search · (Tulare County) · Full-time, exempt · Starting from $90,000 annually, plus annual bonus opportunity

The opportunity

Our client is a family-run agricultural services company that has served California's San Joaquin Valley for nearly 30 years, providing staffing and land management to grower clients. This is the senior dedicated safety position in the organization — there is no safety-titled role above it. You will own the safety program day to day, report to the Director of Human Resources, and lead a team of six to nine. Client name disclosed to candidates at first interview.

What you'll own

  • IIPP (§ 3203) — written program, worksite inspections, incident investigation to root cause, corrective actions verified in the field
  • Heat illness prevention (§ 3395) — shade, water, cool-down and high-heat verification at active sites, May through October
  • Field sanitation (§ 3457) and pesticide-safety coordination with grower clients, DPR, and the County Agricultural Commissioners (oversight only — no application)
  • Equipment and physical hazards — machine guarding, LOTO (§ 3314), forklift certification (§ 3668), PPE, confined space, respiratory protection
  • Cal/OSHA interface — designated employer representative during inspections; § 342(a) serious-injury reporting protocol
  • Workers' compensation — claims from first report through return to work, self-insured program
  • Driver and fleet safety for a private property fleet
  • Supervision, bilingual training curriculum, and monthly reporting on leading and lagging indicators

Required

  • 5+ years occupational safety and health experience, 3+ in agriculture, farm labor contracting, or ag food processing
  • 2+ years directing the work of others
  • Working knowledge of pesticide safety
  • Prior service as employer representative in at least one Cal/OSHA inspection
  • Bilingual English/Spanish — training delivery, incident interviews, and stop-work direction happen in Spanish without an interpreter
  • Valid California driver's license, insurable under the company's commercial policy, local travel approximately 20%, and availability before dawn during harvest and high-heat season
  • Bachelor's in occupational safety, EHS, ag business, or related field — or four additional years of directly relevant ag safety experience

Preferred: CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST · OSHA 500/501 or 510/511 · QAC or QAL · agriculture · farm labor contractor or multi-employer worksite experience · self-insured workers' compensation exposure.

Compensation and benefits

  • From $90,000 base, commensurate with experience, plus annual bonus opportunity
  • Company vehicle for daily use, company phone, company laptop
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match on a 4% employee contribution
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays
  • Employee assistance program, wellness program, parental leave
  • Professional development, and training

At-will employment. Equal opportunity employer; reasonable accommodation available for applicants with disabilities and for religious beliefs and practices.
