What You'll Do

Core Duties:

• Conduct or assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients
• Perform initial basic assessment procedures, including standardized psychological testing, clinical interviewing, mental status examinations, substance abuse evaluations, and psychological and nursing assessments
• Identify mental health and nursing diagnoses and provide patient education
• Observe, monitor, document, and report patient progress
• Conduct or assist with group and individual counseling, therapeutic community activities, and other related milieu activities
• Institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injury or suicide
• Assist patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures
• Obtain and accurately record vital signs
• Coordinate with military, community, and other agencies regarding patient care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and administrative functions
• Contact military and community agencies to obtain collateral information
• Explain and interpret available mental health services to patients and others
• Assist with or arrange patient referrals to public, private, military, and community agencies
• Prepare and maintain treatment records, specialty-service records, and required reports
• Assist with the care of individuals experiencing acute and post-traumatic stress reactions
• Support the delivery of coordinated behavioral health services in accordance with established clinical protocols and program requirements

Department-Specific Duties:

The employee will provide services within a Psychiatric Clinic supporting a Psychological Health initiative under the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PH/TBI) program. The program focuses on improving access to behavioral health care, providing timely assessment and treatment, and coordinating care for patients experiencing psychological health and traumatic brain injury-related needs.

This role provides an opportunity to contribute to a multidisciplinary healthcare environment focused on accessible, coordinated, and evidence-based behavioral health services for military beneficiaries.

What You'll Need — Mandatory Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for LPN/LVN

Education: Certificate. Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed: the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience: Minimum of one year of practical or vocational nursing experience after graduation.

License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Practical or Vocational Nurse.

Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Security: Must be able to pass a government background check/security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications for Psychiatric Technician

Education: Certificate. Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or equivalent education and experience meeting the requirements of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians; or completion of education and experience as a Behavioral Science Specialist/Technician in the United States military, including completion of an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or an accredited civilian course in the care of behavioral health patients.

Experience: Minimum of one year of experience after graduation.

Life Support Certification: Current AHA or ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.

Security: Must be able to pass a government background check/security clearance.
